Lietuvos Muzikos ir Teatro Akademija
Build the future of the best preserved Lithuanian Baroque building - Lietuvos Muzikos ir Teatro Akademija
The Dominykas and Konstancija Sluškai Palace, built by Dominykas Sluška in 1690-1694 on the shore of the Neris River, underwent significant transformations over the centuries, including reconstructions for various uses such as a brewery, military barracks, and a jail, which resulted in the loss of most of its original luxurious interiors and architectural features. Despite these changes, the palace remains one of the best-preserved examples of Baroque architecture, with some original elements like the vertical division of the façade with Ionic pilasters and parts of the portal still intact, and it is currently awaiting further reconstruction to restore its original grandeur. The Palace is currently used as part of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. However, the main palace is planned for restoration, and the outhouses are already undergoing restoration. With your suggestions, we can bring this cultural gem back to life; share your suggestions below.

I'd love to see the palace grounds opened up as a public space. Perhaps we could include a small garden or seating area for the students to enjoy, with wifi and lots of coffeee? :)

I hope the renovation will consider sustainable practices. Could we incorporate energy-efficient systems while still maintaining the historical aesthetics? I can contribute if needed. Best wishes, M,

As an art teacher, I'm excited about the potential for this space. Could we allocate some areas for local artists to exhibit their work, connecting our past with our present creative community?

It would be wonderful if the renovation could include educational elements about the palace's history. Maybe we could have informational plaques or even guided tours once it's completed? Thank you!!

As a neighbor, I'm concerned about potential noise and disruption during the renovation. Could you consider implementing strict working hours and dust control measures?

I'm thrilled about the renovation plans! It's crucial that we preserve the Baroque elements of the façade. I hope the restoration team will consult with heritage experts to ensure we maintain the palace's historical integrity.
